Welcome Letter From SATS
On behalf of the South African Thoracic Society (SATS) and the SATS local organizing committte including my Paediatric and Thoracic Surgery colleagues, I would like to welcome you all to our Annual Congress in the Jacaranda City.
We are privileged to be combining with the Allergy Society of South Africa (ALLSA) once again and in addition this year we will be combining with the 20th Congress of the Chest Wall International Group (CWIG) in our capital city, Pretoria.
, As usual, we will be having tracks on Adult and Paediatric Pulmonolgy and Thoracic Surgery. The Thoracic Surgery group will obviously be greatly enriched by our collaboration with CWIG. The overlap with ALLSA will also greatly enhance our understanding of Respiratory Disease associated with Allergy and Immunology. We will further widen the program with a number of pre-congress workshops that you will certainly interest everyone.
We hope that a number of delegates from our combined congress with the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS) from last year will once again join us. Towards enhancing our relationships with the rest of Africa our SATS Journal has recently undergone a revamp and renamed African Journal of Thoracic and Critical Care Medicine (AJTCCM) and we have classified our African Colleagues as local delegates for registration purposes. We will also strive to accommodate our Physiotherapy and Respiratory Technology colleagues in the program.
We trust you will appreciate our invited local speakers as much as our international guests as we know we have world-class experts in our local societies. Pretoria is home to two of our medical schools at Pretoria University and at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University and we hope to be ideal hosts. July might be a cold time in our city but you will get a warm reception from all of us.
